MATEO CIANCI - NMS - PORTFOLIO
Mateo Cianci, a Colombian native from Bogotá, embarked on a journey to Alma College in 2022 with aspirations to study Digital Marketing. Ever since arriving, Mateo has not only been dedicated to academic pursuits but has also found a passion for soccer. Representing Alma College in collegiate soccer, Cianci has been an active participant in the college's sports scene, contributing both on and off the field. With a blend of academic focus and athletic dedication, Mateo continues to embrace new experiences and opportunities at Alma College, making the most out of the collegiate experience.
PROJECT #1 PODCAST
My first project for NMS was a podcast. I didn't have any experience with podcasts but I did my best to learn, find an interest topic to talk about, and execute it in the best way possible. I did the podcast on micro revolutions.
PROJECT #2 VIDEO/FILM
For this project I had to make a short film about a topic that I thought would work pretty good with what I wanted to do. So I chose a horror film. I felt like it was the coolest thing for me to play around with. The controlling idea of my project is the horror. I used some extreme close-up and close-up shots to focus on facial expressions showing fear, intrigue, surprise and confusion. I also tried to use the push-in technique but it didn't turn out really well.
PROJECT #3 DESIGN POSTER
For this project I had to make a poster for one of my classmates' films. learning Photoshop and exploring the design thinking process helped me to gain valuable skills in visual design and problem-solving. Photoshop has allowed me to create nice graphics and manipulate images, while design thinking has taught me to empathize with users, define problems, ideate solutions, and iterate through prototypes for optimal results. For instance, I've learned how to use the selection tools like the Marquee, Lasso, and Magic Wand to isolate and work on specific parts of an image. Additionally, I've become familiar with essential editing tools such as the Crop tool for resizing images and the Clone Stamp tool for removing unwanted elements. Layer management has also been key, allowing me to organize and manipulate different elements independently. These foundational skills have been instrumental in creating and editing images effectively.
PROJECT #4 STREAM
For this project, I, along with other 3 classmates had to produce 3 streams doing whatever we wanted to do. I had a pretty good understanding on streaming since I used to stream on twitch some time ago. But it was a bit different with all the great equipment that we have here. There's a lot of stuff that I am not going to lie I would've done different since I do not think we need a lot of stuff and that many people to make a great stream, but learning how to use and work with all the great equipment that we have is really interesting.
